Football game to be played at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN -- Strikes by two employee unions have forced the postponement of some student-oriented events at Youngstown State University, but tonight's varsity football game between Ursuline and Boardman high schools will be played as scheduled on campus.
About 380 faculty members went on strike Tuesday, joining 400 classified employees who went on strike Aug. 16.
About 200 members of YSU's more than 150 student organizations had registered to attend the annual Student Leadership Summit this morning in Kilcawley Center. The event has been postponed because of the strikes and will be replaced by another leadership activity once the strikes end.
Nearly 100 incoming freshmen who have received Scholarships of Excellence from YSU were scheduled to attend the Outstanding Freshman Scholars Tribute on Sunday afternoon in Kilcawley, and that event will be rescheduled.
However, the Ursuline-Boardman football game will kick off at 7:30 tonight at Stambaugh Stadium, a university spokesman said.
