Closings
The nation's base-closing commission has approved closing the following Army and Navy installations in Ohio and moving the jobs to nearby sites within the state:
SPRINGFIELD: Army Reserve's 656th Transportation Co. and Army Guard's 237th Forward Support Battalion move from their locations in Springfield to 178th Fighter Wing at Springfield Municipal Airport. 200 jobs.
MANSFIELD: Scouten Army Reserve center in Mansfield and Parrott Army Reserve center in Kenton move to 179th Airlift Wing at Mansfield's Lahm Airport. 71 jobs.
AKRON: Navy-Marine Reserve centers in Cleveland and Akron move to a site in Akron. 51 jobs.
COLUMBUS: Army Reserve centers in suburban Whitehall and Westerville move to Defense Supply Center in Columbus. 37 jobs.
LIMA: Commission rejected Pentagon recommendation to reduce the size of the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center, formerly known as the Lima tank plant. No impact on jobs.
