Government offices hang up on phone glitch

Published: Sat, August 20, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

WARREN -- The telephone system in Trumbull County government offices is again working, but the problem that shut most of the phones down hasn't been determined.

For about a week and a half, county employees could make intermittent outgoing calls but the public couldn't call in. The only exceptions were the county 911 Center in Howland and Department of Jobs and Family Services in Warren.

Linda Sypert, county data processing director, said Friday that Sprint corrected the problem Thursday night. "We don't have a good answer as to what went wrong," noting the glitch occurred in the computers. "If it happens again, we know where to look first. It can happen again."
