Community corn roast to follow parade

MECCA -- The sixth annual Mecca Community Corn Roast will take place Saturday at Mecca Community Park, just south of the circle on state Route 46.
A parade from Maplewood High School to Mecca Park will begin at 11 a.m., followed by games, food and live entertainment. Prizes will be awarded for best antique car, best firetruck, best ambulance and best float. Any decorated bike will be entered into a drawing to win a new bike. Food includes fresh sweet corn roasted over a wood fire and served with real butter, sausage sandwiches, wings, hamburgers, hot dogs with famous "Hot Dog Shoppe" sauce, french fries, homemade desserts and ice cream.
Entertainment includes a Chinese auction, children's games with prizes, a bouncer, car cruise, and Danny G.'s Memories of Elvis Tribute and Double Delight DJ with karaoke.
Proceeds from the corn roast will be used for playground equipment and continued park improvements.
