Jacob Neiheisel, son of James and Pat Neiheisel of Leetonia, has been selected as a Young Scholar. His project, titled "Ohio Issue 1: The Role of clergy in the Campaign to Ban Gay Marriage," will be advised by Assistant Professor of Political Science Paul Djupe. Neiheisel, a 2003 graduate of United Local High School, is a junior political science major and philosophy minor.
The Young Scholar program, now in its 12th year, is designed to give outstanding students in all disciplines the opportunity to conduct summer research on a one-to-one basis with a member of the faculty or independently with faculty supervision. Students must have a minimum 3.3 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and the research must culminate in a written or artistic project as well as a public presentation.
Aaron Bestic, son of Karen and Greg Bestic of Woodland Place, Canfield, will study with the Institute for the International Education of Students in London for the fall 2005 semester. Bestic, a 2003 graduate of Canfield High School, is a junior political science and religion double major.
