Man robs at least $400from discount store
BOARDMAN -- A man moved the cashier out of the way and took more than $400 from a cash register drawer of a Tiffany Boulevard discount store, police said.
The cashier at Marc's told police that a man came to her register Wednesday evening and paid for a candy bar with a $5 bill. When she opened the register, he reached for the $50 and $20 bills.
The cashier told police that she tried to cover the drawer but the man bumped her out of the way, grabbed the money and ran out of the store.
Rib burnoff and concertby area concert band
POLAND -- A rib burnoff and concert on the green will be Saturday at High Pointe Assembly of God, 5716 Struthers Road.
Dinners will be served at 4 p.m., and the performance by Youngstown Area Concert Band will begin at 6 p.m.
There will be a charge for dinner, but the concert is free. Those attending should take their own lawn chairs.

HARTFORD -- The Hartford Fire Association will have its monthly pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Hartford Fire Department, at the intersection of state Routes 305 and 7.
The breakfast includes pancakes or french toast, eggs, sausage and sausage gravy over biscuits. Milk, orange juice, tea and coffee will be available. To-go orders are accepted.
Donations are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for children 5 through 12 and free for children under 5.
Howland park concert
HOWLAND -- The Wildwood Express will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday in Howland's Bolindale Park, 3403 Ridge Road S.E.
The Howland Township Park District urges everyone to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to enjoy the music.
WARREN -- Trumbull County Engineer's Office will close Tibbetts Corners Wick Road, between Pleasant Valley Road (Keefer Road) and Naylor-Lloyd Road in Liberty Township, on Tuesday and Wednesday for culvert replacements.
The recommended detour is east on Tibbetts Corners Wick Road, south on state Route 193, then northwest on Naylor-Lloyd Road.
Burnett Street, between Layer Road and state Route 5 in Warren Township, will be closed Thursday and Friday for culvert replacements.
The recommended detour is south on Layer Road, southwest on Kale Adams Road, north on Center World South Road, then northeast on state Route 5.
Railroad crossing work
SALINEVILLE -- A portion of state Route 39 will be closed beginning Monday for railroad crossing repairs by Norfolk and Southern Railroad.
Beginning at Route 39 and state Route 164 in Salineville, traffic will be detoured west on Route 39 to state Route 644, then north on state Route 644 to state Route 518, then east on Route 518 to state Route 164, then south on Route 164 back to Route 39.
The repairs are expected to take about three days to complete.

Safe with $5,000 stolen
WARREN -- Someone stole a safe and about $5,000 from O'Donold's Irish Pub and Grill, 2774 Youngstown Road S.E.
According to police reports, the business owner said someone broke through a rear door to a patio between 3:30 and 8 a.m. Wednesday. The safe was stolen from the office area.
MINERAL RIDGE -- The Weathersfield Local School District will be having registration for pupils new to the district from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Seaborn Elementary, the middle school and the high school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Parents who miss the registration dates will need to register immediately at the school building their child will be attending.
Parents need to bring the child's birth certificate, immunization records, Social Security number, proof of residency and legal proof of custody if applicable.
