NEW YORK (AP) -- Becky Hammon scored 18 of her 22 points in the second half Wednesday to lead the New York Liberty over the Los Angeles Sparks, 74-69.
Ann Wauters had 18 points and Elena Baranova added 15 points and nine rebounds for New York (14-13), which swept a season series from Los Angeles for the first time.
Chamique Holdsclaw had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Lisa Leslie scored 18 points for the Sparks (12-15), who finished 2-6 on their season-high eight-game road trip.
Los Angeles has lost eight of 10 overall, falling one game behind Minnesota and Phoenix for fourth place in the Western Conference.
Trailing by six points, the Sparks had an 8-1 run to take a 61-60 lead with 3:11 remaining. Holdsclaw had five points during the run, including the go-ahead layup.
Baranova hit a 3-pointer 22 seconds later to regain the lead for New York, and Leslie's jump hook tied it at 63 with 21/2 minutes left.
After Wauters made a layup for the Liberty, Laura Macchi hit a 3 to give Los Angeles a 66-65 lead with 1:42 remaining.
Wauters hit a pair of free throws and made a layup to give New York a three-point lead with 48.5 seconds to go.
Christi Thomas then missed two free throws 13 seconds later, and Hammon made one of two, and Baranova hit two to push the Liberty's lead to 72-66 with 14.4 seconds left.
Doneeka Hodges hit a 3 with 8.6 seconds remaining, but Hammon made a pair of free throws 5 seconds later to seal New York's win.
