S. Side shooting leaves man, 29, in guarded condition

Published: Wed, August 10, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN -- A South Side man was in guarded condition Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center after suffering a gunshot wound to his right forearm while at home earlier in the day.

Ira Hood, 29, of East Ravenwood Avenue, told police someone in a four-door blue Cadillac with a dent in its rear driver's-side door fired about seven or eight shots from the car while driving west on East Ravenwood. After realizing he had been hit, Hood ran into his home and called for help, a report shows.

The victim's sister told officers she has a restraining order against the person suspected in the shooting, the report says.

Hood and his sister said a black semiautomatic firearm was used, according to the report.
