Two suspects face concealed-weapon charges
STRUTHERS -- Two men who a witness says shot at her Youngstown home Aug. 1 were arraigned Monday in Struthers Municipal Court on charges of carrying a concealed weapon.
John Skarada, 29, of Rush Boulevard, Youngstown, and Archie Stanford Jr., 19, of Cleveland Street, Massillon, were released after they each posted 10 percent of their $5,000 bonds.
A pretrial for Skarada is set for Aug. 15, and Stanford will appear in court Oct. 6.
Struthers police arrested the two men Friday night after a woman alerted an officer that two men following her car in a silver car had been involved in shooting at her Clearmount Drive house earlier in the week, according to reports.
Police pulled the men over into a parking lot and searched the car, which was registered to a 79-year-old West Side woman, and found a loaded .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol, reports show.
Though the men maintained they had not shot anyone, they were arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon because the gun was found within reach of both the driver and the passenger.
The woman filed a report Aug. 1 with the Youngstown Police Department alleging several men, two of whom she later identified as Skarada and Stanford, had fired more than 25 rounds at her home with an AK-47 shotgun, likely trying to attack her live-in boyfriend.
