A summary of recent criminal activity in Canfield City and Austintown Township:

CANFIELD

July 30

Shoplifting: A 46-year-old Youngstown woman was arrested on a theft charge at Giant Eagle, 525 E. Main Street. She is accused of stealing two packs of cigarettes, two bottles of Excedrin and a 20-ounce bottle of pop.

Aug. 4

Drug abuse: A 20-year-old Struthers woman was arrested on Neff Drive after police found a silver tin with several different types of pills in it. She gave conflicting stories about whether or not they were prescribed for her.

Aug. 6

Carrying a concealed weapon: Police arrested a 19-year-old Lisbon man on charges of carrying a concealed weapon -- a set of brass knuckles -- drug paraphernalia and drug abuse of marijuana after they found a water bong with burnt marijuana residue in it, a pack of rolling papers, a burnt joint and two small plastic bags containing a 12.5 grams of marijuana.

AUSTINTOWN

Aug. 1

Personal injury: A dog bite was reported in the 100 block of Brockton Drive.

Theft from auto: A JVC stereo was stolen from a vehicle in the 5000 block of Webb Road and later recovered by Weathersfield police.

Criminal damaging: A window was damaged in the 500 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Theft from auto: Diesel fuel was taken from a vehicle at Comfort Inn, 5425 Clarkins Drive.

Theft: A male and female in an older white SUV stole items from Save-A-Lot, 1715 S. Raccoon Road.

Auto theft: A 2000 Dodge Stratus was stolen from the 5000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A glass entry door was damaged at Lane Funeral Home, 5797 Mahoning Ave.

Vandalism: A BB was shot at a light fixture in the 4000 block of Pembrook Place.

Theft: Gasoline was stolen from Sheetz Gas Station, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

Criminal damaging: A windshield of a vehicle was damaged in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Theft from auto: A brief case was taken from a vehicle at Salvatore's, 4831 Mahoning Ave.

Criminal damaging: A window as damaged in the 5000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Aug. 2

Criminal damage: Sugar was placed in a gas tank in the 3000 block of Meanderwood Drive.

Auto theft: A 2001 Dodge Neon was stolen from the 100 block of South Meridian Road.

Recovered property: A black backpack was recovered in the 5000 block of New Road.

Criminal damaging: A bicycle tire was damaged in the 4000 block of Pembrook Road.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle dash and steering wheel were stolen from the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Theft from auto: An Alpine stereo was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 600 block of Duke Circle.

Auto theft: A vehicle was taken from the 600 block of Duke Circle and later returned. Police said they have a suspect.

Theft from auto: Tools and radar detector were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of Penny Lane.

Theft: $100 in cash was stolen from Taco Bell, 850 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft from auto: A computer was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 4000 block of Barrington Court.

Theft: $150 was stolen from Sheetz, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

Aug. 3

Recovered property: An 18-speed green bicycle was stolen from the 1000 block of South Raccoon Road.

Theft from auto: A wallet was taken from a vehicle in the 4000 block of Shadow Oak Court.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle window was broken by a pop bottle at Norquest Boulevard and Kimberly Avenue.

Drug offense: A Youngstown man was arrested on two counts of trying to pass a counterfeit controlled substance (cocaine), and an Austintown man was arrested on a theft charge at Denny's, 4927 Mahoning Ave.

Aug. 4

Theft from auto: Coins were stolen from a vehicle in the 4000 block of New Road.

Theft by deception: Cash was stolen at Dale Cleaners, 4409 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: Two four-wheel drive All-Terrain Vehicles were taken from the 5000 block of Kirk Road.

Breaking and entering: Cash was stolen from Lucianno's Restaurant, 1732 S. Raccoon Road.

Theft from auto: A compact disc player and CDs were stolen from the 3000 block of Ayrshire Drive.

Theft: Two suspects were arrested on theft charges at Wal-Mart.

Drug Offense: A Youngstown man was charged with drug abuse of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia at TA Travel Center, 5400 76 Drive.

Theft: Gasoline was stolen from Sheetz gas station.

Theft from auto: A CD player was taken from the 10 block of North Roanoke Avenue.

Aug. 5

Drug offense: An Austintown man was arrested during a traffic stop at Mahoning Avenue and Raccoon Road on charges of drug abuse marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft: A woman is a suspect in the theft of beer at Save-A-Step, 4825 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A DVD and games were stolen from Hollywood Video, 5225 Mahoning Ave., by the woman suspected of stealing beer at Save-A-Step.

Aug. 6

Drug offense: Two men were arrested on drug charges at South Meridian Road and Wendover Circle. A Youngstown man was charged with drug abuse of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, and a Poland man was charged with permitting drug abuse in a motor vehicle.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle windshield was broken in the 2000 block of Birch Trace Drive.

Auto theft: A 1990 red Buick LeSabre was stolen from S and C, 3733 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: A 26-inch Mongoose boys bicycle was taken from the 400 block of North Four Mile Run Road.

Theft: Fuel was taken from Sheetz gas station.

Unauthorized use: A 2005 Honda All-Terrain vehicle was used without permission in the 5000 block of Willowcrest Drive.

Criminal damaging: A 2-foot-by-5-foot pane glass window was broken at Davis Elementary, 4302 Maple Ave.

Theft: The driver of a dark-colored Probe is the suspect in a theft at Sheetz gas station.

Theft from auto: Credit cards were stolen from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Ayrshire Drive.

Aug. 7

Fictitious plates: Plates with a fictitious sticker were confiscated in the 1100 block of South Raccoon Road.

Drug offense: An Austintown man was arrested on charges of drug abuse of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and permitting drug abuse in a motor vehicle at Billy's, 40 S. Meridian Road.

Recovered property: A stolen bicycle was recovered in the 300 block of Westminster Avenue.

Theft: A bicycle was stolen from the 600 block of Notre Dame Drive.

Theft from auto: A woman is a suspect in an auto theft at Wal-Mart.

Obstruction of official business: A man was arrested at North Edgehill Avenue and Mahoning Avenue and charged with obstructing official business.
