LOS ANGELES (AP) -- NBC is moving the Golden Globes to Monday, abandoning Sunday, which became a big ratings night last season for ABC because of "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy." The 63rd annual awards show will air Jan. 16.
NBC is in the fifth year of a 10-year contract with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to broadcast the event.
"This move will further showcase the Golden Globes and give audiences a better opportunity to watch all the night's glamour without facing Sunday night's intense competition," the network said Thursday.
In 2004, the Globes broadcast drew 26.8 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.
