CARE NET Golf classic on Sept. 12 to benefit community
Families suffering debilitating illnesses will receive proceeds from the event.
COLUMBIANA -- The Links at Firestone Farms will be the setting Sept. 12 for Canfield Community Care Net's fourth annual golf classic.
Registration will be held from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m., and play will begin with a shotgun start at 10:30. Early arrivals may hit practice balls for $5 a bucket or test drive a new Chrysler. A portion of the proceeds from both activities will also benefit Care Net.
The event will include breakfast, an 18-hole, four-man scramble, green fees and cart, sandwiches at the turn, souvenir gift packages, complimentary beverages and a gourmet dinner.
An automobile will be awarded for a hole-in-one, and there will be a putting contest, 50-50 raffle and a skin's game.
The fee for the entire day is $100, and the deadline for registration is Aug. 29. Play is restricted to 144 golfers, who will be registered on a first-come basis.
