MAHONING COUNTY Commissioners action
The county commissioners also handled these matters at their meeting Thursday:
Approved the hiring of Daniel Martin as assistant director/program processor for the county's lead-abatement office effective Aug. 8. Martin's predecessor made about $46,000, but Martin will be paid $37,000.
Approved the promotion of Mari Wren-Petrony as the reuse & amp; recycling division's assistant director. Wren-Petrony will assist director James R. Petuch as well as handle other duties, including coordinating the division's public relations efforts. She replaces Harold Moore, who retired Aug. 1. Wren-Petrony will make $37,000; Moore made $56,000.
Announced that Blott Road between Rosemont Road and state Route 45 in Jackson Township will be closed from Monday to Aug. 12 for a culvert replacement by the county's engineer's office. The detour is along Rosemont and Palmyra roads and Route 45.
Approved an amendment to the lease with Simon Property Co. for the area court in Boardman from March of this year to February 2006. The county pays about $7,000 a month to rent the space in the Boardman Plaza, and the amendment eliminates a penalty clause in the lease that would double the monthly rent. Commissioner John A. McNally IV said commissioners still plan to move forward with a plan to consolidate the county's four area courts in one space.
