Babe Ruth 14s punch ticket to World Series

NEW CASTLE, Ind. -- The Youngstown 14-year-old all-stars defeated Appleton, Wis., 7-6, to capture the Ohio Valley regional championship and advance to the Babe Ruth World Series in Quincy, Mass.
Youngstown lost to Appleton 4-1, then rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning in the championship game. Jason Bagoly's double drove in the winning run.
Jamie Sheppard hit a two-run homer for Youngstown, while Anthony Franceschelli, Drew Fitzpatrick and Corey Hill all had two hits.
The team is managed by Al Franceschelli, with Terry Landis and Tom Fitzpatrick serving as coaches.
This is the fourth consecutive year a Youngstown team has advanced to a World Series.
Two years ago Youngstown won the 14-year-old World Series, also played in Quincy.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. -- Youngstown fought back through the consolation bracket, winning five games before losing to Southern Indiana, 5-4, in the championship game of the Ohio Valley Regional.
