Ninth Irish festival is set at St. Maron's



YOUNGSTOWN -- The ninth annual Gathering of the Irish Clans Family Heritage Festival and Cultural Celebration will be Aug. 13-14 at St. Maron's Pavilion and Recreation Area, 1555 S. Meridian Road.
The gathering will feature Irish entertainers, traditional food and drink, the Irish Marketplace and the Land of the Little Leprechauns children's area.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, with That Irish Band performing at 5. The Wild Geese will perform from 7:30 to 10:45 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. Sunday with an outdoor Mass. The Shaffer Brothers Band will perform at noon and 4 p.m., and the Theresa Burke School of Traditional Irish Step Dancing will perform at 1:15 p.m.
Seamus Kennedy performs at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Cahal Dunne at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Akron Celtic Guards Hurling and Camogie Club will give a hurling and camogie demonstration at 4 p.m. at the Land of the Little Leprechauns field.
