Mahoning Valley dropped a half-game behind Auburn in the standings.

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The Scrappers dropped a three-game series to the worst team in the New York-Penn League, then dropped out of first place in the Pinckney Division.
The Vermont Expos (15-27) used a four-run fourth inning to take control en route to an 8-3 victory over Mahoning Valley on Tuesday at Centennial Field.
The Scrappers (20-22) fell a half-game behind Auburn, which defeated Staten Island 3-1.
First baseman Boodle Clark went 2-for-3 with an RBI and shortstop Andy Lytle went 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Scrappers (20-22), who have today off before starting a six-game homestand against Staten Island and Brooklyn on Thursday.
Brent Thomas went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Trevor Mortensen scored the Scrappers' other run.
Kevin Dixon (2-2) started and got the loss for Mahoning Valley, giving up six runs (four earned) in 32/3 innings. He surrendered eight hits, including a solo home run to Leonard Davis to start the fourth inning.
Mark Jecmen relieved Dixon and gave up two runs (both earned) on four hits, striking out five. Dustin Roddy pitched two perfect innings, striking out four, to finish the game for Mahoning Valley.
Shortstop Jose Contreras went 3-for-4 with a double and two stolen bases for the Expos (15-27), who started the series with the league's worst record.
Mike Daniel added two hits and two RBIs.
Vermont scored a run in the second and third innings, then added four more in the fourth to take control.
Aaron Jackson (2-5) gave up one run in five innings to get the win, striking out two and walking two.
