Alliance downs Salem; Boardman defeated

ALLIANCE -- Jarin Heath struck out nine batters on Thursday, but the Salem High baseball team lost to Alliance, 3-2, in a Metro Athletic Conference game.

Sean McKee, Cody Dillon, Mark Kolich and Josh Dankovich had hits for the Quakers (10-7, 2-7).

Alliance (10-5, 5-3) pitcher Andrews Hendershot struck out 10 batters.

Canton McKinley 4,Boardman 0

CANTON -- Mitch Appleman tossed a two-hitter for McKinley (5-8, 2-6 Federal League).

Kevin Sikora (1-4) took the loss for the Spartans (9-8, 3-5).

West Branch 5, Canton South 2

CANTON -- Matt Catania (1-1) scattered three hits and struck out six to pick up the win for the Warriors (8-7, 4-6 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).

The Warriors snapped a 1-1 tie as they scored three runs in the fifth inning to go ahead of Canton South (10-2, 8-2) for good.

John Wallace, who hit a home run, J.R. Gibson and Josh Winans each had two hits for the Warriors.
