XPOLAND -- A service of blessing and thanksgiving was held April 10 in the chapel of Good Hope Lutheran Church, Boardman, honoring Dick and Betty (Strawderman) Thompson on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple were honored afterward at a party in the church fellowship hall hosted by their three children and spouses, Debbie and Mark Patsko, Rusty and Joann Thompson, and Sandy and John Fiumara. They also have eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

The Thompsons were married April 12, 1955, at Woodland Avenue Lutheran Church.

Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Marine Corps and is a retired truck driver for United Parcel Service.

Mrs. Thompson has served on the WELCA Board and is an active member in the Priscilla Circle of the church.
