Poland remains unbeaten blanking Alliance, 5-0
The Bulldogs and Canfield share the Metro Athletic Conference top spot.
ALLIANCE -- The Poland High softball team kept its unbeaten winning streak alive by blanking Alliance 5-0 Tuesday in a Metro-Athletic Conference game.
The Bulldogs (13-0, 6-0) share first place in the MAC with Canfield.
Liz Maher triggered the Bulldog 12-hit attack with a triple, double, two singles, two runs batted in and a run scored. Kari Thompson hit a pair of singles and drove in two runs.
Andre Sapp hit a pair of singles for the Aviators (4-8).
Boardman 3, Canton GlenOak 0
CANTON -- It took the Spartans (9-3, 3-2) eight innings to prevail in the Federal League contest.
Ashley DiDomenico (7-4) pitched a complete game as struck out six to pick up the win.
The Spartans got the three runs in the top of the eighth inning as DiDomenico walked, but was out at second on Danielle Burin's fielders choice.
With two away, Mallory Hay singled Burin to third. Hay stole second and Emily Hays walked to load the bases. Holly Holman singled all three runners home.
Lake 4, Fitch 0
UNIONTOWN -- Kara Warren doubled for the Falcons (4-3, 2-3 Federal League).
Jen Purcell struck out four Blue Streaks batters and had a single. Andrea Lucente had Fitch's other hit.
Lake leads the Federal with a 5-0 record.
Lowellville 12, Chaney 0
YOUNGSTOWN -- Carla Blinsky pitched a five-inning no-hit, shutout to lead the Rockets at Rocky Ridge.
Blinsky, a sophomore, recorded her first no-hitter and struck out seven.
Jacque Schrader provided Blinsky with all the offensive power she needed as she hit a fifth inning grand slam and added three singles while driving in six runs.
Lindsay Wilson and Juli Peterson each added three singles and Rae Lynn Noble added to for the Rockets (9-5).
Springfield 13, Crestview 6
COLUMBIANA -- Christy Warren went 4-for-5 with three doubles, a single and five RBIs to lead Springfield.
Samantha Cavalier added three hits, Brittany Marinelli had two and Courtney Sheely had a single and a double for the Tigers (11-3).
