BIKE ACCIDENT Girl hit by car in critical condition

Published: Mon, April 18, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

CLEVELAND -- A 7-year-old Howland girl was in critical condition Sunday night at Cleveland Metro Hospital after being hit by a car while riding her bicycle near her home Saturday night.

The girl was identified by the Ohio State Highway Patrol as Kaylia M. Miller, who lives on Curtis Avenue.

Kaylia was southbound on Flory Street about 7 p.m. when she pedaled into the Woodbine Street intersection, according to the state patrol. She was struck by a car heading west on Woodbine and driven by Margaret M. Bauer, 23, of Warren.

Kaylia was taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Cleveland Metro.

Bauer was not cited, a highway patrol spokeswoman said. "The little girl rode her bike into the intersection," she said.
