XPleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, corner of Midlothian and Southern boulevards, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner with a silent and Chinese auction from 4 to 8 p.m. April 23. Cost for dinner is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Drawings for the auction will begin at 8:15 p.m. and will feature autographed merchandise from the Cleveland Cavaliers, tickets to Ohio State University football games, Baltimore Ravens merchandise and other donated merchandise and services totaling $2,000, including gift baskets and certificates to a variety of area businesses. XThe 2005 Mahoning Valley MS Walk, sponsored by Giant Eagle and Serono/Pfizer, will be held Saturdayat Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Canfield. Entrance to the grounds is through Gate 5, across from the Ohio State Highway Patrol on state Route 46. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. Walkers can choose from an 8 1/2- or five-mile walk. Participants collect pledges to fund both local quality-of-life programs helping more than 1,000 Mahoning Valley residents living with multiple sclerosis and MS-related medical research performed in Ohio.
XTickets are available for "Continuing the Dream," the sixth annual wine-tasting and auction to benefit Beatitude House to be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. May 6 at the Byzantine Center at the Grove. The event will feature an assortment of hors d'oeuvres and dinner choices, and representatives from area wine distributors will be on hand to offer guests an array of premium wines. Imported beers will also be available for tasting. A variety of items will be auctioned, including two tickets to sit in the private loge of Ohio State University football coach Jim Tressel with Ellen Tressel, the coach's wife, during a game. XPhi Sigma Chi Sorority and Omicron Xi Fraternity at Grove City College will sponsor the 20th annual Sunset Sprint April 27. The 5K race, which is sanctioned by USA Track and Field, begins at 7 p.m. on South Broad Street, downtown Grove City. Prizes will be awarded for the top runners in each age group. Runner registration is accepted the day of the race until 10 minutes before starting time. Proceeds benefit United Community Hospital's Lifeline Service, which provides personal help buttons for seniors who live alone and may need help during an emergency or other times. Sponsors are needed; any amount is welcome, but donors of $100 or more will get their company name printed on the race T-shirt. X"Workout for a Cure," an aerobic and strength-training event, will be sponsored from noon to 3 p.m. Sundayby Ruth's Robics and Dance Co., 5626 South Ave., Boardman, to help raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Anyone is welcome to participate. The day will be split into three categories of fitness: a low-impact aerobic class at noon, a step aerobic class at 1 p.m. and a body strengthening class at 2.
