PREP ROUNDUP Boardman sweeps on trip

The Champion and Lisbon softball teams split a doubleheader.

STEUBENVILLE -- Jack Mulichak homered and drove in four runs to lead the Boardman High baseball team to a 10-2 victory Saturday over Steubenville (6-2).

Cameron Cimino's two hits included a double. Luke Kershner and Kevin Sikora teamed up to scatter six hits.

STEUBENVILLE -- Anthony Porter drove in three runs with two hits and Ed Deluca had two RBIs with a double for the Spartans (4-5).

Justin Lemmo's two hits included a double. Armani Johnson also doubled.

Central Catholic is 4-4.

Salem 7-6, East Palestine 3-1

SALEM -- Craig McElroy's two hits drove in two runs and Bryan Wright doubled for the Quakers (5-2) in the opener.

Dave Baker's two hits included a double for the Bulldogs (0-5).

In the second game, Tim Colian's two hits included a double and brought home three runners.

Jarin Heath and Mark Kolich also had two hits each for the Quakers. Craig Hritz tossed a complete game, scattering seven hits.

Softball

LISBON -- Lisbon and Champion split a doubleheader and both losses were the first of the season for each team.

The Flashes won the opener 4-1 in nine innings behind the three-hit pitching of Jaclyn Carpenter, who also had two hits.

Katie Kepchup had a double for Lisbon.

In the second game, Lisbon scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 6-5 victory.

Ericka Snoody limited the Flashes to three hits while Ericka Sinns added a triple.

Champion is 9-1 while Lisbon is 4-1.

Poland 9, Beaumont 2

VIENNA -- Kari Thompson's home run and triple drove in three runs for the undefeated Bulldogs at the Thunderplex complex.

Ashley Conger, Liz Maher and Jenna Susany each had two hits while winning pitcher Allie Patton scattered six hits.

Beaumont is 3-6.

Poland 10,Steubenville Central Catholic 1

VIENNA -- Ashley Conger's four hits included two doubles and drove in four runs. She also scored three times.

Patton's three hits included a triple and double, and she scored three runs for Poland (8-0).
