CARD/BINGO PARTIES

XThe Altar and Rosary Society of St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown, is having a card party at 2 p.m. Sunday in Maxwell Hall. Guests should enter from the back parking lot. Cost is $4 and includes lunch. Tickets will be sold at the door.

XSt. James Altar and Rosary Society will have its annual card and bingo party at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. James School gymnasium, 2106 Arbor St. S.E., Warren. Admission at the door is $5, and lunch will be included.

XSt. James the Apostle Church, Route 422 West, New Bedford, Pa., is having a card and bingo party from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Lunch and refreshments will be available, and there will also be table and door prizes and a 50-50 raffle. The event is sponsored by the Christian Women's Organization. XSt. Stephen of Hungary Altar and Rosary Society is having a super bingo-card party at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church social hall, 854 Wilson Ave., Youngstown. Cost is $4 and includes a light lunch and door prize.

XThe Altar and Rosary Society of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, will hold a bingo and card party from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the church hall. Refreshments will be served. Cost will be $4 for adults and $2 for children.

DINNERS/DANCES

XTickets are being sold for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church's seventh annual pre-festival dinner-dance to be held May 13 at the church social hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a cash bar. Dinner will include lasagna roll-ups and meatballs, stuffed chicken breast, greens, potatoes, salad, rolls and dessert, and dancing will be to the music of Capri Band and Nunzio until 11 p.m. Cost is $20, and tickets are available from any festival committee member and at Trolio's, 35 W. McKinley Way, Poland, or call (330) 757-2779.

XTrumbull County 4-H Endowment Committee is sponsoring its biennial dinner and auction Saturday at Yankee Lake Ballroom, Route 7, Brookfield. A "can-it" raffle, quilt raffle, 50-50 drawing, spin-the-wheel, balloon pop, and silent and live auctions are planned. Items donated include a Chevy Cobalt gift basket, a Jim Friend original of the Trumbull County bicentennial barn, entertainment tickets, a butcher block, and scrapbook and chocolate baskets. FUND-RAISERS

XAngels for Animals' eighth annual Canine Fun Run and Walk will be held, rain or shine, on April 24 at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 10 a.m.; participants must obtain and complete a registration form available at the animal shelter, PetsMart and Pet Supplies Plus, or by calling the shelter at (330) 549-5708. Cost to register is $10. There will be free demonstrations, contests, raffles, giveaways, family activities and an award ceremony. Participants, who should use the main entrance on Columbiana-Canfield Road, will receive a goodies bag. Those who bring in pledges will also receive a T-shirt; a prize will be awarded to the one with the most pledges. The event will be held in conjunction with the Angels' Gigantic Garage Sale April 22-24 at the fairgrounds.

NIGHTS AT THE RACES

XThe football program at Ursuline High School will sponsor a night at the races April 23 at the school cafeteria, 750 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, and the cost to buy a horse is $30 and includes two tickets. A light buffet will be available, and there will also be a silent auction, 50-50 raffle, black jack and cash bar. Call (330) 744-4882 to purchase tickets and horses.

RAFFLES

XUrsuline High School is selling raffle tickets for a 2005 Chevy Cobalt. Tickets for $10 each can be obtained by calling (330) 744-4563 Ext. 131. The drawing will be held April 29; the winner, who need not be present, can choose the car or $10,000 cash. All taxes are the responsibility of the winner.

SALES

XA trash and treasure sale sponsored by the Boardman-Poland Junior Women's League will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Boardman Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road.

XA rummage sale will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, which will be half-price day. Hot sandwiches, homemade soups and baked goods, and beverages will be available Thursday evening and Friday.

XCatholic Women's Club of St. Rose Church in Girard will hold a rummage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the lower level at the St. Rose Parish House, 48 E. Main St.

XEast Palestine Centenary United Methodist Church, 40 S. Market St., will hold a rummage sale from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, which is dollar-a-bag day.

XJohn Calvin-St. Paul United Church of Christ, 1951 Mathews Road, Youngstown, will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

XLockwood United Methodist Church, 4570 Lockwood Blvd., Youngstown, is having a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

XNew Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Road, will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, sponsored by the Women of the Church of God. Lunch will be sold on Thursday, and Friday will be $1-a-bag day.

XOld Springfield United Church of Christ, Route 170, New Middletown, will have its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Homemade soup, cinnamon rolls and pie will also be sold. For information call (330) 542-3516.

XRedeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown, is holding a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. A light lunch will be available Friday, and Saturday will be half-price bag day.

XSimon Road Church of God, 4750 Simon Road, Boardman, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 1 Friday.

XThe Women's Ministry of Woodland Park United Methodist Church, 601 Ohio Ave., McDonald, is having its semiannual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

SEMINARS

XAustintown Junior Women's League will host a free seminar titled "Taking Care of Your Parents" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 13 in the community room at Austintown Public Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road. Deanne Clifford of Ohio Council on Aging District XI will address common questions, problems and concerns about the services available to older adults in the Mahoning Valley. SPECIAL EVENTS

XDivas With Dessert, a benefit for Second Harvest Food Bank and Stambaugh Pillars, will be held April 15 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. A social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. will precede a performance of popular and Broadway tunes by Ellen Wakeford-Banks, Martha Brogdan, Rita Busin and Illa Willis. Frank Marzullo of WFMJ-TV will be the master of ceremonies, and desserts and beverages will be served during the evening by Phyllis Echement of Pampered Chef. Cost is $25. Seats can be reserved by calling the food bank at (330) 792-5522 Ext. 11, and checks and major credit cards will be accepted. Payment can also be made at the door. STYLE SHOWS

XMembers of Warren Republican Women's Club are selling tickets to their annual card party and style show to be held at 7 p.m. April 21 at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St., Warren. Cost is $6, and door prizes and a light lunch are included. Tickets can also be obtained by calling (330) 856-4659 or at the door.
