Cerny pitches Lakeview past Ursuline, 4-1

YOUNGSTOWN -- Freshman Kailynn Cerny allowed only three hits and struck out six as Lakeview High upended Ursuline 4-1 Friday in a softball game.
The Irish (1-2) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning as Megan Saccomen singled, moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on Maureen Cearfoss' double.
The Bulldogs (2-0) took the lead in the top of the fifth with two runs. Jen Baker reached base on an error, Brittany Bucco walked and both scored on a double by Lindsay Whetzel.
Lakeview added two runs in the sixth as Angela DiCesara walked and stole second. Cerny walked, then Michele Antonelli singled and DiCesara was thrown out at the plate. With runners at second and third, Baker singled home Cerny and Bucco singled home Antonelli.
Bucco went 3-for-3, while Whetzel was 2-for-4.
