The county commissioners also handled these matters Thursday:
Approved an agreement to buy a parcel needed for the Centerpointe business park in Austintown Township for $241,000.
Awarded the contract to clear land for the business park to Utility Contracting Inc. of Youngstown for $130,000. Utility was the low bidder. Commissioners borrowed nearly $4 million, through the sale of bonds, to help pay for the construction of roads, sewers and waterlines in the business park.
Before the meeting, Commissioner Anthony Traficanti, board chairman, also thanked the common pleas judges for quickly approving the early-release mechanism to let nonviolent inmates out of the county jail. Traficanti said the release will "give relief to the sheriff and take the financial burden off the county."
