NILES Man, woman face charges after resident is terrorized
Two people were awaiting arraignment today in Niles Municipal Court.
NILES -- A man and woman face kidnapping and burglary charges after a McKinley Towers resident was terrorized Tuesday evening.
Emmanuel C. Summers, 25, of Redondo Road, Liberty, and Latasha M. Cole, 19, of Montrose Street, Liberty, each face charges of aggravated burglary, criminal trespassing and kidnapping. They were in the city jail today awaiting arraignment in municipal court.
Patrol Officer Rob Miketa was sent to the Seneca Street high-rise apartment building about 7 p.m. in response to a disturbance on the seventh floor.
Miketa reported hearing a noise inside an apartment, but nobody would open the door. When he kicked it in, he found the resident lying on the floor. She had been injured.
According to the police report, the victim told Miketa that two men and a woman were waiting for her outside her apartment when she got home. They wanted to talk about an argument she had with a neighbor.
She told police the woman took her keys and the men dragged her into her apartment. They threatened to kill her if she moved.
The three took eight rings, a set of earrings and $120 in cash, the victim told police.
Police recovered a coat from the woman's apartment that had identification cards inside. They were the IDs of Summers and Cole.
The two were later found in the apartment of the neighbor whom the victim had argued with earlier. The second man was not caught.
