BOARDMAN -- Singers ages 16 and older with high school, collegiate or community chorus experience are invited to join Seraphim for its 2004-05 season. All voice ranges are needed. Late area artist featured in showing
WARREN -- Ten years after his death, Trumbull Art Gallery will open a memorial exhibit of Youngstown artist Anthony Joseph Salvatore's work. "Sincere Visions" will be displayed from Sept. 11 through Dec. 30 at TAG, 196 E. Market St. Salvatore devoted his time to illustrating Scripture, especially the Lamza Bible -- an English translation of the Aramaic Bible -- which he studied. An opening reception will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 10. Regular hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 8 p.m. Thursdays.
Stardust Ball at park
ERIE, PA. -- National Ballroom Dance Month will be observed during a Stardust Ball to be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Sept. 11 at Rainbow Gardens in Waldameer Park, 3000 W. Lake Road.
Music will be by Billy Kaye Orchestra. Cleveland Swing and Salsa Company will give dance exhibitions.

Fall classes at Hoyt
NEW CASTLE -- The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts' fall classes run from Sept. 14 to Nov. 6.
Courses will be offered in ceramics, drawing, film, language, ballroom dance, painting, photography, mosaics, handwriting analysis, bridge, tai chi and weaving. There will also be a variety of children's classes.
Three courses are new this year. They are:
UBeginning Colored Pencil, taught by Pittsburgh artist Bob Nolin, eight weeks long, Saturdays, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
UOpen Air Landscape Painting Workshop in Oils, taught by Kevin McLatchy, intensive one-day workshop, Sept. 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
UImagining the Dramatic, combines role-playing with the creation and use of masks, taught by Wooster College graduate Laura Jeanne Cerniglia, four weeks long, Thursdays, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Free concert at chapel
MERCER, Pa. -- A Clarinet Trio + 1, a group of four area musicians, will perform a free public concert at noon Wednesday in the Helen Black Miller Memorial Chapel on the grounds of the Mercer County Historical Society, 119 S. Pitt St.
The 90-minute concert will feature modern classics such as "Hello, Dolly," "In the Mood," "My Blue Heaven," and "Ain't Misbehavin'."
The group consists of Jim Boyd of New Castle on trumpet and violin, Jean Jolley of New Castle on clarinet and alto saxophone, Sam Shilling of Mercer on clarinet, and soloist Cindy Pickens of Howell, Ohio, on clarinet.
A special display of musical instruments will be presented during the concert.
Band, choir concert
GIRARD -- Grab a lawn chair before heading off to the free concert by Girard Community Band at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bruster's Ice Cream, 1300 N. State St. Girard Community Choir will sing at 6:30 p.m.
