Hilton weds in Las Vegas-- it's Nicky, not Paris
LAS VEGAS -- Hotel heiress Nicky Hilton married a New York money manager before dawn Sunday in an impromptu ceremony, according to court filings obtained by The Associated Press.
Hilton, 20, married Todd Andrew Meister, 33, at the Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, according a Clark County marriage license. A woman who answered the phone at the chapel declined to comment.
"Access Hollywood," which first reported the wedding, said older sister Paris Hilton and actress Bijou Phillips were present during the 2:30 a.m. ceremony.
The Hilton sisters were in town for a Stuff magazine party at the Palms Casino Resort, where they were joined by Meister and Nicole Richie for dinner late Saturday, resort owner George Maloof Jr. said.
Maloof, who confirmed the ceremony had taken place, said the couple gave no indication of their plans.
The group was joined in Las Vegas by friends including *NSync member Lance Bass, actress Tara Reid and actor Danny Masterson from "That 70's Show," according to "Entertainment Tonight."
Nicky Hilton, younger sister of "The Simple Life 2" star Paris Hilton, has dabbled in acting, appearing in "Wishman" in 1991 and presenting at MTV award shows.
Shooting investigationhas Lil' Kim up in arms
NEW YORK -- Rapper Lil' Kim, whose perjury trial is set for early next year, says the charges against her are a "witch hunt against the hip-hop industry."
Prosecutors say she lied to a grand jury investigating a 2001 shooting reportedly involving members of her entourage. One man from a rival rap group was injured in the shooting.
Her former manager and co-defendant, Damion Butler, has been indicted after being accused of shooting a weapon during the situation and is serving a prison term on unrelated weapons charges.
Lil' Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, is accused of telling the grand jury that Butler was not present during the 2001 shooting. She is charged with conspiracy, perjury and obstruction.
"I am completely innocent of the charges I have been accused of, and am very confident that my co-defendants and I will win this case in the courtroom," she said in a statement. "This case is a witch hunt against the hip-hop industry."
Lil' Kim won a Grammy Award for her part in the hit remake of "Lady Marmalade" in 2001.
Actor Glover, poet decidenot to join event for Haiti
MIAMI -- Actor Danny Glover backed out of a cruise commemorating the Haitian bicentennial, saying he did not want to appear to support the government installed after Jean-Bertrand Aristide was ousted as president.
Poet Sonia Sanchez also canceled.
"Due to the increasingly critical political situation in Haiti, which resulted in a loss of life, oppression and incarceration of thousands of Haitians, I have canceled my participation," Glover told The Miami Herald before the Caribbean cruise set sail Saturday.
About 500 people paid $1,500 to $2,500 to take the seven-day cruise. Celebrities taking part include dancer Katherine Dunham and National Urban League President Marc Morial.
A U.S.-led multinational force arrived in Haiti after a three-week rebellion. Aristide left the country Feb. 29. From exile in South Africa, Aristide has accused the United States of being behind his overthrow, a claim Washington has denied.
