City man faces chargesafter domestic dispute
YOUNGSTOWN -- City police charged a man after a domestic dispute involving a gun Friday. Police charged Robert W. Miller, 69, of East Boston Avenue, with illegally having weapons, felonious assault and using weapons while intoxicated. Miller's wife told police that the two were arguing about 4:32 p.m. Friday when he pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill her. She told police that when Miller went to pull the trigger, she pushed the gun away. The wife was treated by ambulance personnel for what appeared to be a powder burn to her hand, police said.
Judge sets date for trial
STRUTHERS -- Judge James R. Lanzo of municipal court set a trial date of Feb. 5, 2005, for Michael A. Freeze, 34, of Eve Drive, who is charged with two counts of hitting cars with his vehicle and one count of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Freeze was arrested at his home Aug. 12 after two witnesses reported seeing his car hit two other vehicles, one parked on the street in the 500 block of Garfield Street, the other a car driven by an 18-year-old Hillsville, Pa., woman. The second vehicle was struck while stopped at a Center Street traffic light. The driver of the second car that was struck followed Freeze to his home. After officers arrived, the report states, Freeze was so intoxicated officers thought he'd be unable to complete field sobriety tests safely. At the police station, Freeze repeatedly refused a breath analysis test.
Lane restrictions
U.S. Route 62 in Green and Goshen townships and state Route 7 at the state Route 165 in Beaver Township will have various lane restrictions between 10 tonight and 6 a.m. Tuesday. The work is part of traffic signal work performed by Ohio Department of Transportation crews.
Troopers probe crashthat left driver critical
VIENNA -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that sent an 89-year-old Hermitage, Pa., woman to the hospital in critical condition. According to a patrol spokesman, Helen Eaton was driving west on state Route 82 at about 10:50 a.m. Sunday. Eaton turned left on Sodom-Hutchings Road when she collided with a truck, the patrol said. The truck driver was not injured. Eaton is at St. Elizabeth Health Center, officials said.
