Weekend event marks Hawkins 60th anniversary
XNEW WATERFORD -- A family outing to Heritage Lodges Cabins in Hocking Hills was arranged in celebration of the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Hawkins, 46627 state Route 558.
Hosts for the weekend celebration were the couple's family, Larry and Jolene Hawkins of Oregon, Wis.; Lynn and Chuck Garver of Kent; Beth and Gary Wisinski of Washington, D.C.; and Patti and Bobb Hawkins-Holden of St. Charles, Mo. The Hawkinses also have six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hawkins and the former Martha Jane Boyd were united in marriage Aug. 5, 1944, at the home of her parents. They are members of East Fairfield United Methodist Church.
Prior to retiring in 1987, Mrs. Hawkins was a high-school secretary with Crestview School District. She belongs to the Joy Circle, Crestview Churches Community Concerns and Elkton-Fairfield Friendly Neighbors.
Mr. Hawkins served with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1943 to 1946. He was a Guernsey breeder until 1970, and manager with the Agri-King Division. He is a member of New Waterford Lions Club, past district governor 13 D, Lions Club International Foundation, and Eye Care Foundation Board.
