FARRELL, PA. -- Police said a 38-year-old city woman was shot in the leg during a gunfight between two men at Roemer Boulevard and Lee Avenue this morning.
The man accused of shooting her, James Tanelli Teague, 32, of West Budd Street, Sharon, is in jail facing a variety of charges.
Police said the victim, who they did not identify, had just bought some food at Roamer's Bar at 204 Roemer Boulevard and was walking on the sidewalk eating about 2:30 a.m. when she was hit in the left thigh by a bullet fired by Teague.
Police said Teague and a second, unidentified man got into a dispute and began shooting at each other just two blocks from the police station.
Teague was standing in the middle of the intersection while the second man was standing on the sidewalk near where the woman was walking, police said.
Search for men
Both men fled the area, and Southwest Mercer County Regional Police put out a call to Sharon and Hermitage officers to help find them.
A Sharon police officer responding to the call spotted Teague jumping over a fence on Weitz Avenue several blocks from the scene, and police cordoned off that area.
They caught Teague at 3:30 a.m. in a side yard of a home in the 1100 block of Weitz Avenue, police said. A .32 caliber revolver and two ounces of suspected crack cocaine were found next to him on the ground, police said.
He was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and carrying a firearm without a license.
He was held for arraignment today and refused to identify the other man involved in the shootout, police said. That suspect remained at large this morning, police said.
The victim was treated at UPMC Horizon. Police said the bullet passed through her leg.
