T.J. Maxx to open in Hermitage
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- T.J. Maxx, one of the nation's largest off-price retailers, will open a store in the Hermitage Towne Plaza on East State Street on Aug. 22.
The 26,329-square-foot store will have a larger accessories department than a typical T.J. Maxx store, according to Renee Katziff, company spokeswoman.
The expanded department will offer handbags, fine jewelry and luggage, she said.
Grand opening hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Regular store hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
The company opened its first store in 1977 and says it offers first-quality, brand name and designer merchandise at prices up to 60 percent below department and specialty store prices.
The new store will offer clothing for the entire family and feature an educational toy and book department. It will employ 75 full- and part-time workers.
T.J. Maxx is a Massachusetts-based company with more than 750 stores in 48 states.
With the opening of the Hermitage store, the company will have 16 stores in the Youngstown/western Pennsylvania market.
