City farmers marketplans last summer sale
YOUNGSTOWN -- The final scheduled Northside Farmers Market will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Elm Street and Illinois Avenue.
The market, the last of four scheduled for this summer, features local sweet corn with an assortment of fresh vegetables and fruits plus other vendors.
Also, the Know Your Neighbor Block Watch will sell bricks from the old Harding Elementary School at Saturday's market. The keepsakes will be $5. Proceeds will be used to fund a project at the new Harding school.
There also will be one more event related to the market this season. Farmers will convene at the site from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 4 to offer pumpkins, apples, cornstalks, Indian corn, mums and other fall produce.
Case of theft at fairgoes to grand jury
GIRARD -- The case of one of two men charged in the thefts of high-ticket items during the Canfield Fair has been bound over to the Trumbull County grand jury.
Jason Graham, 24, of Joan Avenue, Girard, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday and was bound over by municipal Judge Michael A. Bernard.
Graham is accused of taking a hot tub, three mosquito magnets and a gas grill from fair vendors.
A second man, Jason W. Deshetler, 22, of Stoneybrooke Drive, Hubbard Township, has been charged by township police with two counts of receiving stolen property. His case is pending in municipal court.
