Legal group picks winner of 1st award
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning County Bar Association has chosen Atty. David C. Comstock Sr. as the first recipient of its award for outstanding professionalism.
The bar association established the award this year to honor lawyers to display integrity, civility toward other lawyers and respect for the courts. Those traits are part of the lawyers' creed.
Nominees must have been in the legal profession at least 30 years and be a bar association member.
Comstock is a partner in the firm of Comstock, Springer and Wilson, whose offices are downtown. He could not be reached to comment.
Comstock will officially be honored during the bar association's annual opening-of-court luncheon in September, said president Kathi McNabb Welsh. That's when new lawyers are admitted into the bar.
"It's our hope that the new members will learn from his example of professionalism," Welsh said.
She said about a dozen lawyers were nominated for the award, which will be given annually. The decision was made by the bar's board of trustees.
