Face painting can be a colorful new experiment
KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
Neutral browns and creams are fine. But most makeup experts are touting a stronger, more interesting color palette for the face to go with bright spring clothes.
MAC, one of the trendiest lines, is promoting lip stains in colors such as glitter-touched gold, peach and so-called "dirty" pink.
The eye shadow plan for these lips includes corals (called "Mild Orange"), copper, brown and taupe.
Other adventurous shades on the MAC palette include eye shadow names such as "Quarry" (a plum), "Beauty Marked" (charcoal touched with red pearl) and "Decorator Pink" (with gold highlights).
The colors should be at MAC counters this month. Some are in limited quantities.
Maybe orange and glistening pink are not your style. Maybe you're afraid you'll look as if you ran into a door. And you don't want to frighten your friends.
But the point is, cold winter days are good times to experiment with stronger makeup colors from any line. Think florals from a garden. Envision ocean hues. By spring, you'll have a new technique mastered.
