NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Steve McNair threw passes and took part in a few drills Friday as the Titans practiced for an hour.
The quarterback watched the final couple of drills, but he said his right toe and ribs feel fine.
The Titans have a bye in the first round of the playoffs, and McNair figures the time off will ease the tightness in his lower back that resulted from not practicing the final five weeks of the regular season.
"It worked out for the best," McNair said. "I worked out a couple days this week. I get a couple days off to rest up from the practice I had and come back full speed next week."
He tossed some passes Wednesday, and took part in a couple of drills Thursday and again Friday as the Titans practiced about an hour each day. It was his most work in practice since straining his ribs in a loss to Baltimore on Nov. 24.
The Titans (11-5) return to practice Monday. They will host a playoff game Jan. 11 or Jan. 12.
Coach Jeff Fisher was happy to see what McNair was able to do.
"We have a chance, like we have been saying all week, to be a healthy team next weekend," Fisher said.
