PHILADELPHIA -- Jeff Friesen's goal with 4:45 left lifted the New Jersey Devils to a 2-2 tie with the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night. John Madden also scored for Atlantic Division-leading New Jersey, which had lost three of five. Donald Brashear had a goal and assist, and Keith Primeau also scored for Philadelphia, which is 0-3-1 against the Devils this season. The Flyers are unbeaten in their last three (1-0-2) after consecutive shutouts last week.
Panthers 3, Canadiens 0
MONTREAL -- Roberto Luongo set a career-high with his sixth shutout of the season, and Olli Jokinen and Viktor Kozlov each had a goal and an assist to lead the Florida Panthers. Luongo, who has 16 career shutouts, made 24 saves. He had five shutouts in 2000-01, his second of four seasons in the NHL. Jeff Toms also scored as Florida ended a four-game winless streak.
Canucks 4, Red Wings 3, OT
DETROIT -- Marek Malik scored with 1:58 left in overtime as the Vancouver Canucks overcame a three-goal deficit and stretched their unbeaten streak to 10 games. Vancouver overcame a 3-0 deficit in the third period to snap Detroit's three-game winning streak. Malik's winner came off a pass from Brendan Morrison on a two-on-one break.
Maple Leafs 4, Hurricanes 3
TORONTO -- Darcy Tucker scored the go-ahead goal with 7:39 left as the Toronto Maple Leafs won for the eighth time in nine games. Ed Belfour made several impressive saves in the third period for the Maple Leafs, who were eliminated by the Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference finals last year. Kevin Weekes made 43 saves for the Hurricanes.
