The Rusnaks renew vows for 50th and are honored at dinner, reception
XSTRUTHERS -- Mr. and Mrs. Steve Rusnak, 532 Creed St., were honored at several events for the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
On Feb. 14 the couple attended Mass at St. Nicholas Church, and a family dinner party was held at the Springfield Grille in Boardman.
A reception took place Feb. 15 at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Vince and Janet Rusnak of Boardman, who were hosts along with the honorees' other children and their spouses, Steven Rusnak of Norfolk, Va.; Diana and Ralph Meyers and Roberta Tirabassi, all of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and Robert and Kathy Rusnak of Virginia Beach, Va. The Rusnaks also renewed their marriage vows at the reception.
The former Kathryn Necko and Mr. Rusnak were married Feb. 14, 1953, at St. Matthias Church in Youngstown.
Mrs. Rusnak served in the Women's Army Air Corps from 1945-47 and worked for General Electric Co. in Youngstown until 1954. She is a member of the VFW Post 7538 Auxiliary.
Mr. Rusnak was in the Civil Conservation Corps and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an owner and operator of two Independent Taxis for 20 years, and worked for the city of Struthers as park superintendent and with the street department, retiring in 1990. Mr. Rusnak is a past commander of VFW Post 7538 and is a fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus.
The family also includes seven grandchildren.
