Judge Michael Wherry of Mercer County Common Pleas Court issued sentences to 10 convicted criminals Friday:
John E. Thompson Jr., 18, of South Mercer Street, Greenville, was sentenced to 18 to 90 months in prison for three felony counts of receiving stolen property. Numerous other charges, including burglary and criminal conspiracy, were dismissed as part of a plea bargain. Last August, Thompson was caught with three stolen cars.
Michael Campbell, 23, of Saxonburg, Pa., was sentenced to one to five years in prison for corruption of minors and indecent assault, both misdemeanors. Campbell pleaded guilty in December to enticing a girl under 18 to engage in sexual intercourse at a Grove City house.
Daniel Fry, 47, of Sharpsville Avenue, Sharon, was placed on 10 years' probation for possession with intent to deliver and acquiring a controlled substance by misrepresentation. In November 2001 he sold two Xanax pills to an undercover agent at a home in Transfer. Fry also obtained Vicodin on three separate occasions in October 2001 at a Greenville drugstore using a forged prescription, according to court documents.
Justin Gulentz, 19, of Methodist Road, Greenville, was sentenced to three years in prison and placed on three years' probation for risking catastrophe and criminal trespass, both felonies. On July 8, 2002, according to court documents, he set fire to an unoccupied trailer on Hadley Road, Hempfield Township.
Donald Irby, 40, of Mesabi Street, Sharon, was placed on one year's probation and ordered to make $87 restitution for misdemeanor retail theft for stealing three cartons of cigarettes from a Hermitage grocery.
Robert McClimans Jr., 40, was placed on two years' probation for misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking. According to court documents, last June he entered a Sharon residence and took a microwave oven and two telephones.
Lawrence Mitchum, 19, of Ferndale Avenue S.W., Warren, was sentenced to 12 to 30 months in prison for felony possession with intent to deliver. He was apprehended in September 2002 at a New Castle Avenue, Sharon, residence with 4.8 grams of crack cocaine.
Timothy Shearer, 21, of Delaware Road, Fredonia, was sentenced to 12 to 60 months in prison for a misdemeanor charge of possessing firearms without a license. Last August, according to court documents, Shearer was apprehended at a Shearer Road address in Delaware Township and found in possession of a .22-caliber revolver.
Lewendo Teague, 30, of Baldwin Avenue, Sharon, was placed on one year's probation for misdemeanor simple assault. Last July 18, Teague, according to court documents, bruised a woman's arm, tore off her shirt, and told her if he went to jail he would have her killed. The incident took place at a Mesabi Street, Sharon, residence.
Jon Wilkins, 35, of Kinsman Road, Jamestown, was placed on five years' probation for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor, for cashing checks last June that had been stolen from a Green Township residence.
