In their meeting Tuesday, Mahoning Township, Pa., supervisors:
Announced that drawings have been prepared for a handicapped-accessible ramp from the parking lot to the township community center and that the township will seek state or federal funds to build the ramp.Announced the start of the North Edinburg and Pa. Route 551 waterline project. Construction crews are drilling under the road so they can lay pipe after the weather breaks.Amended a deal on township land Crown Communications Inc. leases from the township on U.S. Route 224. Crown wants to put more antennas on the tower there and needs more room on the ground to make this possible. Supervisors approved increasing the square footage leased from 300 to 450. The company's rent will increase from $500 a month to $700. Named Barb Marvola to the township planning commission to replace Rich Patton, who resigned.Corrected an error made at the last meeting and set the township secretary's monthly pay at $618. A lower amount had been approved last month. Heard township Treasurer Gil Lucarelli report that the bill for road salt this winter is running $15,000 to $20,000 more than expected.Thanked Supervisor Gary Pezzuolo for lending a truck to the township at no cost after a township truck broke down.Announced that Lenten fish dinners to benefit the fire department will begin March 7 at the Edinburg Fire Station.
