WACO, Texas -- Nick Collison scored nine of his 15 points in a game-turning run and Kansas remained atop the Big 12 standings. Collison drove for a short bank shot with 3:34 left in the first half, starting a 15-0 run for the Jayhawks (18-5, 8-1 Big 12). That included the final 10 points before halftime for a 41-28 lead. Collison scored on a spinning layup on a pass from Kirk Hinrich to cap the opening half. Kansas then scored the first five points of the second half, Collison passing to Jeff Graves for an easy layup and then hitting a 3-pointer from the top of the key. The Jayhawks led by as many as 26. Keith Langford had a game-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including consecutive three-point plays in the first half that put Kansas ahead to stay. R.T. Guinn had 15 points for Baylor (10-10, 1-8).
No. 3 Kentucky 87, No. 20 Georgia 67
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Marquis Estill scored 16 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots as the Wildcats won their 13th straight game. Gerald Fitch scored 14 and Keith Bogans and Erik Daniels had 12 each for the Wildcats (19-3, 9-0 Southeastern Conference), who held Georgia, the SEC's highest-scoring team, to 43 percent shooting (28-of-65). The Bulldogs are the SEC's best 3-point shooting team, but went 2-of-14 (14 percent) from 3-point range against Kentucky, the league's top 3-point shooting defense. The Wildcats have averaged a 17-point margin of victory during their winning streak, which ties the longest in coach Tubby Smith's six seasons. Kentucky won its last 13 games in 1998, capping the run with the program's seventh NCAA championship. Kentucky is off to its best start in league play since 1995-96, when it won all 16 SEC games. It won its sixth NCAA championship later that season.
