MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Township trustees will work with Niles officials to extend the bike trail known as the Great Ohio Lake-to-River Greenway from the Mahoning County line through the township and Niles in 2005.
Township administrator David Pugh told trustees at their meeting Tuesday that the township would have to pay for engineering and design of the bike trail in the township, a figure he projected should not exceed $20,000. The township is not expected to incur any construction costs on the project, Pugh said.
The trail will pick up where the Mahoning County portion of the trail ends, just north of Webb Road. Trustees didn't provide the exact route the trail will take through the township. Pugh said that the township won't have any expenses for the project until next year, and the bike trail won't be built in the township and Niles until 2005.
