Alexei Kovalev was traded by the New York Rangers four years ago when they grew tired of waiting for him to reach his potential. New York reacquired the All-Star forward Monday in an eight-player trade with the cash-strapped Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins also sent Andrew Ference to the Calgary Flames for a conditional draft pick. C5.

Trade rumors

Among the rumors flying around Cleveland lately is that the Browns would package quarterback Tim Couch and linebacker Earl Holmes off to the Bears for a late-round draft pick and Brian Urlacher. Such a trade is not very likely. C4.
