Castlo awards contractfor repairs to roof

STRUTHERS -- Castlo Community Improvement Corp. recently awarded a $91,000 contract to Hodge Construction Inc. of New Waterford for roof repairs to Building H in the industrial park.

According to a spokeswoman from the construction company, the repairs will begin within the next month.

Second National sells2 Steubenville branches

WARREN -- Second National Bank has completed the previously announced sale of its two Steubenville branches to Advance Financial Savings Bank of Wellsburg, W.Va. The Warren-based bank said the branches don't fit into its plans to expand in the Akron and Cleveland areas.

America West to dropits Columbus hub

COLUMBUS -- America West Airlines will eliminate its unprofitable hub in Columbus by mid-June, reducing the number of daily flights originating there from 49 to four, the company announced Monday.

The airline will also reduce its Columbus work force to about 65 from roughly 400 employees. The rest of the Columbus employees will have the option of transferring elsewhere within the company or taking a severance package, the airline said.

America West lost about $25 million per year on the operation, America West spokeswoman Janice Monahan said. The Tempe, Ariz.-based airline, the nation's eighth-largest carrier, has posted losses for nine straight quarters.

Rent-Way sells storesto Rent-A-Center

ERIE, Pa. -- Rent-Way has sold 295 stores to the largest rent-to-own chain in the country, Rent-A-Center, for slightly more than $100 million. Rent-Way, the nation's second-largest rent-to-own chain, announced the closing of the sale Monday, about two months after saying it would sell the stores.

As required under Erie-based Rent-Way's credit agreement, all the proceeds of the sale will be used to pay debts. Shareholders have filed a class-action suit against Rent-Way, its top officers and an accounting firm over an accounting scandal.
