Summary of police activity in Canfield City and Austintown Township.

CANFIELD

Feb. 4

Felony Weapon: A 19-year-old North Jackson man was arrested at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center after an on-duty officer found a U.S. Marine Corps duffle bag left unattended in the hallway and, searching it, found a stainless steel knife in it. The officer showed the bag and knife to the school principal and the student was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon in school.

Feb. 6

Theft: A semi truck leased by Ruan Leasing Co., Columbus, was stolen from Dart Trucking Co., 61 Railroad St.

AUSTINTOWN

Feb. 3

Drug offense: A 32-year-old man was arrested at Best Western Motel, 870 N. Canfield-Niles Road, on charges of criminal damage and possessing dangerous drugs.

Drug offense: Two men were arrested on drug charges on South Raccoon Road. Both were charged with a minor misdemeanor drug count and drug abuse.

Feb. 4

Criminal damage: A windshield and hood on a vehicle were damaged in the 600 block of North Raccoon Road.

Theft: $10 in gasoline was stolen from Sheetz gas station, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

Criminal damage: The hood of a vehicle was damaged by an unknown object in the 1100 block of North Four Mile Run Road.

Criminal damage: Damage to the front grill and bumper of a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of North Raccoon Road.

Theft: Customers drove off without paying $18.61 and $19.59 in gasoline from Sheetz gas station.

Feb. 5

Domestic violence: A boy was arrested on a domestic violence charge in the 60 block of South Beverly Avenue.

Domestic violence/drug paraphernalia: A boy was placed in the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center after being arrested on a domestic violence call in the 40 block of Atlanta Avenue. After police conducted a consent search, drug paraphernalia also was found.

Theft: $25 worth of gasoline was stolen during a drive-off from McQuaid's, 5160 Mahoning Ave.

Feb. 6

Theft from auto: A purse containing cash and personal property was stolen from a vehicle at Austinwoods Nursing Home, 4780 Kirk Road.

Criminal damage: A vehicle windshield was broken by a rock in the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Theft: $4,100 in cash was taken from a residence in the 1000 block of Northfield Drive.

Feb. 7

Drug Offense: A man was arrested and placed in the county jail on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia after being arrested at Parkgate Avenue at Wickliffe Circle.

Vehicle pursuit: A stolen Plymouth was recovered and a man was arrested and placed in county jail after a pursuit which ended at North Meridian Road at Mahoning Avenue.

Theft: $10 and $15 in gasoline were stolen during separate drive-offs at Sheetz gas station.

Theft: A female employee allegedly took $650 from a deposit bag at Dollar General, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Drug offense: A man was arrested on a minor misdemeanor charge of drug abuse at Mahoning Avenue and Victoria Road.

Feb. 8

Escapee: A woman was arrested by Austintown police after she escaped from Youngstown city jail.

Theft: A man's wallet was stolen from Cracker Barrel, 5600 Interstate Boulevard.

Impersonating an officer: A man with a badge claimed to be a Boardman police officer at Morgan Furniture, Austintown Plaza.

Criminal damage: Two tires were cut on a vehicle in the 1000 block of Compass West apartments.

Theft from auto: A tire was cut and four center caps were taken from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Compass West apartments.

Theft from auto: Four hubcaps were stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of South Raccoon Road.

Theft: A cell phone was stolen at the Sandbar, 169 S. Four Mile Run Road.

Theft: Money and jewelry were missing after a theft at Motel 6, 5471 Seventy-Six Drive.

Feb. 9

Theft from auto: An Alpine compact disc player-radio was stolen and a side window and molding of a vehicle were damaged at Noday's Lounge, 3713 Oakwood Ave.

Drug offense: Two men were charged with possession of marijuana in the 400 block of North Four Mile Run Road.

Theft: $20.30 in cash was reported missing from the TA Travel Center.

Theft: $18.18 in gasoline was stolen during a drive-off at Certified Oil, 825 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Arrest: A man was arrested on a traffic violation at state Route 46 and Interstate 80 and police discovered he was also wanted on an assault charge in Boardman court.

Drug offense: A man was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at Norquest Boulevard and North Inglewood Avenue.
