LAWRENCE COUNTY PSU extension offers Web class for businesses

Participants will learn to create a Web page where customers can order and pay for goods and services online.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Penn State Cooperative Extension, Lawrence County is accepting registrations through Feb. 19 for a 12-hour computer workshop for business owners interested in e-business possibilities.
The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 26 and March 5, 12 and 19 at The Learning Center, 131 Columbus Innerbelt, New Castle.
PSU Cooperative Extension in Lawrence County and the Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation are sponsoring the workshop, to be led by Dan Brockett of Penn State University, Venango County.
The cost is $100 per participant, and there must be at least eight participants for the workshop to take place, said Lynn Heasley, Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation assistant director.
Participants need not have a Web page for their business already in place, but must have a computer at the business with Internet access. Heasley emphasized the e-business workshop is not a beginning computer workshop.
Workshop's target
Heasley said the workshop is ideal for owners of midsize businesses who are interested in creating or improving Web pages for their business, and who want to effectively use the Internet for business and marketing.
A key component of the workshop will be instruction in creating a Web page that customers can use to place orders and pay for the ordered goods or services online with a credit card, she said.
For more information or to register, call the PSU Extension office at (724) 654-8370 or stop in the office in the Lawrence County courthouse.
