SHARON, Pa. -- The Krinichka Youth Choir from Minsk, Belarus, will perform at 7 p.m. Monday in the Sharon High School auditorium.
The performance is a fund-raising effort for needy children in Belarus, and a donation of $10 per person will be collected at the door.
The 23 classically trained vocalists, ranging in age from 16 to 25, will offer Belarus folk, classical and spiritual music as well as contemporary songs in many languages. Dancing elements will be accompanied by traditional instruments of Belarus, and Ansambl Karavan, a local dance troupe, will also perform.
The choir is on a national tour from New York City to St. Louis. Money raised on the tour will be donated to orphanages, baby homes and institutions for chronically ill children who were affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
Natalia Sukhanova directs the choir.
A local committee headed by Carol Novosel of Sharon and Ansambl Karavan is sponsoring the local program.
