DAYTON -- David Bailey made up for three missed free throws by hitting a jumper with one second remaining, giving Loyola of Chicago a 71-69 victory over Wright State on Saturday.
Bailey missed two free throws with 26 seconds to play and hit only one of two at the line 10 seconds later, keeping Wright State within three points at 69-66.
The Raiders (8-13, 2-9 Horizon League) tied the score at 69 on Vern Hollins' 3-pointer with two seconds remaining. Bailey put in the winning basket a second later for the Ramblers (10-14, 5-6).
Bailey scored Loyola's final seven points and finished with 21. Corey Minnifield scored 19 points, Paul McMillan added 10 points and 14 rebounds and Demetrius Williams had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Loyola.
Seth Doliboa had 23 points and nine rebounds, and Hollis had 24 points and seven assists for the Raiders.
Wright State trailed by 16 points in the first half and made up a nine-point deficit in the final seven minutes.
Butler 61, Ill.-Chicago 47
INDIANAPOLIS -- Joel Cornette scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half and grabbed 11 rebounds as Butler beat Illinois-Chicago.
Butler (18-3, 8-1 Horizon League) led only 20-19 at halftime after shooting 38 percent from the field. Cornette and Brandon Miller led the Bulldogs' second-half surge, combining for 22 points in the half as Butler shot 56 percent.
The Bulldogs didn't put the game out of reach until the final seven minutes, when they outscored the Flames (15-6, 9-3) 19-8.
Mike Monserez opened the run with two free throws to give Butler a 44-39 lead with 7:05 remaining.
Armond Williams finished with 15 points for Illinois-Chicago, which was held to 35 percent field-goal shooting. Cedric Banks added 11 points and Aaron Carr had 10
Butler's Miller finished with 14 points.
