YOUNGSTOWN -- Lutheran Social Services of the Mahoning Valley (LSS-MV) has announced the hiring of Goldia McCall as service coordinator at Rockford Village Apartments.
LSS-MV, a member of Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio, was established in October to address growing social and economic needs in the Mahoning Valley. McCall will be responsible for the coordination of crisis and case-management services for residents at the apartments. She will also provide varied training and education.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Trinity United Methodist Women will celebrate 200th anniversary Thursday. The meeting will begin at noon with lunch. A service of prayer and self-denial will be observed.
Bible study offered
BOARDMAN -- A nondenominational Bible study will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sundays at Simon Road Church of God. The format will be one in which all participants will ask the question "What does the Bible say about _______?" As they fill in the blank, the group will choose one of the subjects and discuss it. Music and faith program
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva Women will be sponsoring pianist Eugene Alcalay and violinist Linda Fischer in "Divine Inspiration: The Integration of Music and Faith by Great Composers" at 1:30 p.m. next Saturday in the Old Main Auditorium at Geneva College. The lecture-recital presented by the Pittsburgh Symphony's outreach and education program will feature Alcalay and Fischer performing compositions by Bach, Beethoven and Ives.
Alcalay is an assistant professor of piano at Geneva. Fischer is a frequent performer in chamber-music concerts at the Carnegie Museum.
