An osteopathic physician was seated as head the county medical society.
BOARDMAN -- Dr. Marc S. Saunders became the first osteopathic physician to serve as president of Mahoning County Medical Society when he was installed at the society's annual meeting Jan. 28 at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.
The society's 131st president, Dr. Saunders, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., received his medical education at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Richmond Heights General Hospital and his surgical residency at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Dr. Saunders, who maintains a private practice in Boardman, is board certified as a surgeon and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Ohio State Medical Association.
Also installed were: Dr. Ronald M. Yarab, president elect; Dr. Janardan Tallam, secretary-treasurer; Drs. Thomas Detesco, Daniel Handel and Tallam, delegates to the Ohio State Medical Association; Drs. Eugene Potesta, Saunders and Yarab, alternate delegates to OSMA; Drs. Chris A. Knight and Maureen Matthews, society council members; and Drs. Prabhudas Lakhani and James Stille, foundation trustees.
